ECP Data Entry Operator and Sub Assistant typing tests: 40 and 30 WPM
The Election Commission of Pakistan hires staff for data entry and clerical posts, and its public adverts set clear typing requirements.
The numbers in the adverts
For the Data Entry Operator post (BS-14), the advert describes screening at 40 words per minute in English, with a separate Urdu typing test. For the Sub Assistant post (BS-11), the advert describes screening at 30 words per minute in English.
What this means for your practice
A DEO test is about exact copying: names, numbers and addresses must be right. Set your goal at 45 WPM in practice so that 40 feels comfortable, and keep accuracy at 97 percent or better. For Sub Assistant, aim for 35 WPM.
Urdu typing
The Urdu typing test is separate. TypingNonStop practises English typing only at the moment, so for Urdu you will need another tool or regular practice on an Urdu keyboard layout.
Test-day habits
Read the instructions fully, type the first lines slowly, keep your eyes on the text, and avoid stopping to correct a single mistake. If the test allows it, check your first few lines for accuracy before you build speed.
TypingNonStop has exam passages with the pass marks of real government and office jobs, net WPM, weak-word drills, lessons and games.
